The showcase of the Southern African precast concrete industry is officially back with the formal launch of the Concrete Manufacturers Association (CMA) 2026 Digital Awards for Excellence (AFE2026).
The awards are set to build upon the success of previous competitions and are open to producers, engineers, architects and concrete associates nationwide. It follows the success of its previous digital campaigns with recognition of excellence in the use of precast concrete across all sectors of the built environment where it promises to showcase new standards of excellence.
The CMA Awards for Excellence are a highlight on the country’s precast concrete calendar and have been so since the awards inception in 1985. The mission of the biennial awards is to recognize outstanding engineering and aesthetic achievements in precast concrete applications while honoring the professional teams behind them. The competition spans diverse categories ranging from architectural paving and masonry to massive structural elements and long-term infrastructure functionality ensuring that every tier of precast mastery is celebrated. Entries close at the end of December 2026.
“The evolution from traditional physical judging to a dynamic live digital platform has completely transformed what it means to be an entrant. Data from the #AFE2024 campaign proves the power of this shift with entry videos generated a staggering 200,000+ social media hits viewed for a total of more than 550 hours.
“Also, rather than locking entries away for months until a private gala evening the 2026 campaign broadcasts every single entry live to the world from the moment submitted until entries close. Thereafter the entries are loaded online and further promoted by targeted CMA-funded paid promotional campaigns that ensure entrants receive sustained and high-impact visibility,” says CMA general manager Henry Cockcroft.
He adds that the true value for CMA members goes far beyond the potential of taking home a physical trophy. Every single entry is converted into a professional corporate video created and hosted by the CMA on its official channels. This video asset becomes the permanent property of the entrant and is ready to be shared across corporate websites, client pitches and business networks. Early entry is paramount as it maximizes exposure, giving projects a longer timeline to accumulate likes, shares and clicks, casting a massive net across the global construction and architectural markets.
