The newly developed Blue Hills Residential Estate, near Midrand, Gauteng, will offer purchasers over 118 units of various configurations and all of its side roads, traffic circles, bus stops and parking areas have been established with Technicrete pavers and kerb product.

Thabani Mtolo, sales consultant for Technicrete commented “Technicrete’s wide range of precast concrete products are known for their quality and longevity, particularly for developments, commercial or residential, where a high volume of vehicle and foot traffic is expected. Additionally, their aesthetically pleasing finish and colour choices can smarten up even the most mundane of functional road requirements such as traffic circles”.

Markus Hay, project manager for KwaMhlanga Construction, the engineers involved with the development of the Blue Hills project, commented that based on the Technicrete reputation for a quality solution, that it made sense to source the pavers and kerbing from them. “We were pleased with the quality of the products from Technicrete. They went out of their way to ensure that all of our requirements were addressed in a timely manner enabling our scheduling to remain on track. We were very happy with the service received from them,” said Hay.

Two thousand square meters of Technicrete’s JZZ (Zig-Zag / Double Zig-Zag) 80mm grey paving blocks and six thousand square meters of the 60 mm grey pavers were supplied to the Blue Hills Residential Estate project. These blocks are heavy-duty, interlocking concrete pavers designed for high-traffic surfaces, and form a continuous, durable surface.

“We have also supplied over five thousand Figure 7 and 8C garden kerbs to this residential project. The 8c is a heavy load duty kerb, which can also be used in conjunction with Barrier Kerbs. It’s a versatile precast kerb often used for edge restraint in the construction of roads, gutter systems and rumble strips, whilst the Figure 7 is a semi mountable kerb. This has the ‘Splayed’ profile most suitable for use in situations where a vehicle may need to ‘bump up’ onto a verge in an emergency,” said Mtolo.

“Precast products from our vast catalogue have been selected for many municipal and private sector commercial developments such as medical, mining, transportation and automotive facilities as well as the residential property development sector. There is also keen interest from project engineers in our permeable paving solutions that play a role in a projects overall stormwater drainage system,” he said.
